Inovev forecasts 50,000 units per year of the new Citroen C4 X
Citroen(one of the fourteen brands of the Stellantisgroup) has unveiled the new C4 X(codeC43) which succeeds theC-Elysee.Indeed, while the C4 is a C-segmenthatchback, the C4 X is a C-segment sedan like the CitroenC-Elysée. This type of body is particularly popular in Southern(Spain,Portugal,Italy,Greece) and Eastern(CzechRepublic,Slovakia,Hungary,Poland,Romania) Europeancountries. It is also appreciated in South American and Chinese markets which could welcome this model nextyear. As itstands, the Citroen C4 X could compete with the Renault Arkana in the samecategory.
In terms ofdimensions, the Citroen C4 X is positioned in thecarmakers’ range between the C4(4.36m) and the C5 X(4.81m).Also inprice, the C4 X will be between the C4 and the C5 X while the C-Elysée was cheaper than theC4. Like many othermanufacturers, Citroen is taking advantage of the launch of a new model to substantially increase itsprices.
The C4 X is based on the same CMP platform as theC4, and like theC4, it will be available in a thermal version(1.2petrol, 1.5diesel) and in a battery electric version which has a range of 350kilometers.
The C4 X will be produced in the Spanish plant ofVillaverde, alongside theC4, at the rate of 50,000 units per year according toInovev. InChina, the C4 X could be produced at 25,000 units per year at the Wuhansite. It would thus succeed C-Elysée andFukang. Citroen on itsside, is aiming for a production of 120,000 cars produced per year inVillaverde, including 80,000 C4 and 40,000 C4X.

  • Inovev plans 80,000 units per year of the new Fiat Doblo

Inovev plans 80,000 units per year of the new Fiat Doblo
Fiat has presented its new N1-1 segment light utility vehicle, which is the third generation oftheDoblo, following the first launched in 2000 and the second in2010.
Integration into the Stellantis groupobliges, the new Doblo takes over thebodywork, the EMP2 platform and the engines of the CitroënBerlingo, PeugeotPartner, Opel Combo and Toyota ProAceCity, including the100% electric engine(with the same batterycapacity: 50kWh). Thermal engines including the 1.2 petrol and 1.5 liter diesel already known in the PSAera.
Like thesemodels, the newDoblo, which will be available in LCV(goodstransport) and VP(passengertransport)versions, will be manufactured at the Spanish site in Vigo and no longer at the Turkish site inBursa.
The Doblo had lost a lot of influence in recentyears, its production volume having gradually increased from 140,000 units in 2007 to 80,000 in 2014 and 65,000 in2021. The model will therefore take the place of the Citroën C4 SpaceTourer on the site de Vigo from July2022, since Stellantis has announced the removal of this minivan from itscatalog.
With the arrival of the new FiatDoblo, the range of light commercial vehicles of Stellantis is now completelyhomogeneous, since the models of the N1-1 segment are allidentical, as are those of the N1-2 segment and those of the N1-3segment.
Inovev expects 80,000 Fiat Doblo sales peryear, compared with 80,000 Citroën Berlingo sales in2021, 80,000 PeugeotPartner/Riftersales, 40,000 Opel Combo sales and 20,000 Toyota sales ProAceCity.

An (unofficial)informationrecently released in the pressindicated thattheStellantis group was going to make industrial changesat themid-lifetime ofthe Peugeot 208 scheduled for 2023 (the nextgenerationbeing scheduled for 2026).
In2023 therefore, production of thefacelifted Peugeot208may beentirelymade atthe Moroccan site inKenitra, except for thebatteryelectric versions (e-208) which will beassembled atthe Spanishplant of Zaragoza, alongside the Opel e-Corsa. We will therefore see aconcentrationof twoBEVs ona singleplant atStellantis in 2023, but the e-2008, e-C4, e-Mokka will continue to be produced on specific production sites.
Atthe same time, thecapacity available inTrnava (Slovakia)following thePeugeot 208transfer toMoroccowill allow the arrival in 2023 of the newgenerationof the Citroën C3 (CC21) but above all the arrival in 2024 of the newgenerationsof the Citroën C3Aircross (CC24) and OpelCrossland (OV24)whose currentgenerationsare produced in Zaragoza, alongside the OpelCorsa.

  • Where are Stellantis battery electric vehicles produced?

Where are Stellantis battery electric vehicles produced?
Volkswagen has announced that it wants to produce 700,000 battery electric vehicles (BEVs) per year at five different assembly plants in Germany by 2030, in addition to the 500,000 BEVs per year at theMartorell plant in Spain. On its side, Renault has announced that it wants to produce 400,000 BEVs per year at the Douai plant in France, in addition to the 100,000 BEVs per year at theMaubeuge plant in France. What about theStellantis group's strategy regarding BEV production location?
The current production ofStellantis BEVs is spread all over Europe and it is possible that it will remain the case for several years. Indeed,Stellantis BEVs are directly derived from primarily combustion engine vehicles and therefore share the same platforms, which are then adapted for electric versions. These versions are assembled at the same plant where the thermal versions of these models are produced.
Thus, the e-Corsa is produced where theCorsa is produced, in Zaragoza (Spain); the e-208 where the 208 is produced, inTrnava (Slovakia); the e-2008 where the 2008 is produced, inVigo (Spain); the e-C4 where the C4 is produced, inVillaverde (Spain); the e-Mokka where theMokka is produced, inPoissy (France); the DS3Crossback E-Tense where the DS3Crossback, inPoissy (France),etc...
On the other hand, some models, like the Fiat e-500, are assembled at specific plants. And theStellantis group has announced that the Ellesmere Port site will become in 2022 a site dedicated to the production of Citroën e-Berlingo, Peugeot e-Partner, Opel e-Combo and Toyota e-ProAce City. It is therefore not impossible that in the future, with the full electrification of certainStellantis brands, plants may become dedicated to the production of battery electric vehicles, but not before 2024.

  • Why Spain will be the largest BEV producer in 2030

Why Spain will be the largest BEV producer in 2030
The European country where the most 100% electric vehicles are expected to be produced in 2030 will not be France or Germany, but Spain. In fact, most automakers have announced their plans for the next five to six years regarding the production of vehicles in Spain with this type of propulsion, and we can see that they are numerous :
    1. Zaragoza: production plant for the new Opel e-Corsa, Peugeot e-208, Lancia e-Ypsilon.
    2. Villaverde: production site for the Citroën e-C4 and e-C4 X.
    3. Vitoria: production site for Mercedes e-Vito.
    4. Vigo: production site for Peugeot e-2008. Citroën e-Berlingo, Peugeot e-Partner, Opel e-Combo and their Toyota derivatives moved to the Ellesmere Port site in the UK.
    5. Martorell: Production site for the future Volkswagen ID1/ID2 and their Skoda,Cupra and Audi derivatives.
    6. Valencia: Possible production site for future Ford electric vehicles.
    7. Pamplona: No electric models are currently planned.
The Martorell plant alone is planned to produce 500,000 electric vehicles per year. In total,Spain could produce 1.5 million electric vehicles in 2030, accounting for half of its automotive production, while Germany could produce 1.3 million and France 0.8 million electric vehicles at the same time.
