Fiat Doblo and Talento will be replaced in 2022
The2022 year willbe the year of renewal forFiat branded light utility vehicles. These new vehicles willnot be based on Fiatdesign for theDoblo (segment N1-1) and the Renault design for theTalento (segment N1-2). As for theFiorino (segment N1-0), it will bestoppedwithout being replaced, as a consequence of the decision taken by the EuropeanCommission on the market competition.
The future FiatDoblo andTalento (which will benamed Scudofor the utility version andUlysse for the passengerversion)willbe based on theplatform, the engines and the design ofthe PSA light utility vehicles, meaning the CitroënBerlingo, PeugeotPartner/Rifter, Opel Combo forDoblo andthe CitroënJumpy, Peugeot Expert, OpelVivaro for Scudo /Ulysse.It is to be noted thatthe currentFiorino andDoblo are quite oldas theydate from 2007 and 2010 respectively. On Fiatdesign, there will therefore only remain the FiatDucato (segment N1-3), on which the Citroën Jumper, Peugeot Boxer and OpelMovano are derived. These vehicles are the largestLUVsin theStellantis group.
Thefurure FiatScudo /Ulysse based on PSAmodelshasjust been unveiled and will be produced in the first quarter of 2022while thefutureDoblobased on PSA will be presented duringthe next summer. The new Scudo /Ulysse will be produced at theValenciennesplant, alongside the Jumpy and Expert (models of the K0 family). The ToyotaProace, whichis also based on the Jumpy/Expert,is alsoassembled attheValenciennesplant.
As for the new FiatDoblo, it is expected to beproduced inBursa in Turkey, unless the management ofStellantis decides to produce a part inVigo andMangualde, alongside theBerlingo, Partner and Combo (models of the K9 family). • Four new SUVs will be produced at the Melfi plant

Four new SUVs will be produced at the Melfi plant
TheStellantis group has just communicated on its results for the first half of 2022, which shows a real distortion between global sales down 16% over the period (3.02 million vehicles) and a profit up 34% compared to the first half of2021.Sales of electric vehicles thus jumped 50% year-on-year to reach 136,000 units in the first half of 2022. But North America remains the most profitable region with the increase in sales of large pick-ups. up Dodge Ram and SUV Jeep which together represent more than one million units in the first half of 2022.
Thecarmakeralso communicated on the future manufacturing program of its Italian plant inMelfi. Currently, this site manufactures the Fiat 500 X, Jeep Renegade and Jeep Compass SUVs. But these models are at the end of their life.
From 2024, the plant will host the production of four new 100% electric SUVs based on the new STLA Medium(or e-VMP) platform which will be inaugurated in 2023 on the new generation of the Peugeot 3008 SUV.
The four future models manufactured on theMelfi site have not been precisely identified, but they could be future DS, Opel, Lancia D-segment SUVs: Future DS 9 (D85) in 2024 and derivative model at Opel (O85), then future DS 7 (D84) in 2026 and derived model at Lancia (L84). For its part, the Jeep brand will gradually abandon the Renegade and Compass at the end of their life to focus on the Avenger model which will be unveiled this fall and which will be manufactured inTichy, Poland.

Inovev forecasts 100,000 units per year of the new Jeep Avenger
TheStellantisplantsinTichy (Poland)and inMelfi (Italy) will be transformed over the next two years to focuson the manufacture of electric cars, which has not been the case untilnow. TheFiat 500 which is currently manufacturedinTichy,is equipped with athermal engine, the one withan electricmotor being produced on theMirafiori site in Italy. TheTichy site has lost a lot in production volume since the transfer of the Fiat Panda from theTichy site to the Italian site ofPomigliano in 2012 and sincethe end ofproductionofthe FordKa in 2016. In 2022, the site ofTichy will only produce 155,000 end-of-life cars (Fiat 500s and LanciaYpsilons). Succession will go through the new Jeep Avenger SUV and its Alfa-Romeo and Lancia derivatives.
The new Jeep Avenger which has just been unveiled(and which takes the name of an old 1970 Hillman rebadged Chrysler in 1976 and Talbot in 1979) will be launched in 2023, on the e-CMP platform of the Peugeot e-2008, Opel e-Mokka and DS3Crossback E-Tense.
It will therefore be shorter than the Renegade (4.10 m instead of 4.23 m) and will be the brand's first model to be equipped with a 100% electricengine and battery(the same as that of the 2008 andMokka) which will allow a range of 400 km according to the WLTP cycle. It will also be offered in a petrol version, borrowing the 1.2-litre 3-cylinder fitted to the 2008 andMokka.
The Jeep Avenger will also be the brand's first model to be marketed only in Europe and not in the United States.Inovevforecasts 100,000annual sales of the Jeep Avenger.

  • Inovev forecasts 35,000 units per year of the new Fiat Scudo / Ulysse

Inovev forecasts 35,000 units per year of the new Fiat Scudo / Ulysse
Following the merger of PSA with FCA, it was announced thatthe Fiatlightutility vehiclesofthe N1-2segment would take over thebody and platform ofthe Peugeot Expert and Citroën Jumpy, and no longer the body of the RenaultTrafic and Nissan NV300. Thisdecision is noweffective withthe launch of the new Fiat Scudo (lightutility vehicle) andUlysse (passenger car version of the lightutility vehicle). The names follow those that wereused inthe late 1990s until the early 2010s, at a time when Fiat was alreadycollaborating withPSA onutility vehiclesandMPVs.
The new generationof the FiatScudo will therefore replace the FiatTalento (based on Renault) from thebeginning of2022, while the FiatUlysse will play the role of a large minivan (like the first generation FiatUlysse),indirectcompetition with thePeugeotTraveler (based on the Expert), Citroën Space tourer (based on the Jumpy) and OpelZafira Life (based on theVivaro).
The Fiat Scudo andUlysse will use the engines alreadymounted underthe hood of the Expert, Jumpy andVivaro, meaning the2.0 HDI diesel(developed originally by PSA),available in 120hp, 145hp and 180hp, as well as the 136hp electricmotor(witha battery pack of 50 kWh or 75kWh).A hydrogen fuel cell version is plannedlater, probably in 2025. This engine willequip atthe same timethePeugeot Expert, Citroën Jumpy and OpelVivaro.
As for the other three models of theStellantis group, the Fiat Scudo andUlysse will beassembled atthe Frenchplant ofValenciennes. Inovevforecasts a production of 35,000units per yearfor thetwo new models Fiat Scudo andUlysse.

  • Inovev forecasts 50,000 units per year of the new Citroen C4 X

Inovev forecasts 50,000 units per year of the new Citroen C4 X
Citroen(one of the fourteen brands of the Stellantisgroup) has unveiled the new C4 X(codeC43) which succeeds theC-Elysee.Indeed, while the C4 is a C-segmenthatchback, the C4 X is a C-segment sedan like the CitroenC-Elysée. This type of body is particularly popular in Southern(Spain,Portugal,Italy,Greece) and Eastern(CzechRepublic,Slovakia,Hungary,Poland,Romania) Europeancountries. It is also appreciated in South American and Chinese markets which could welcome this model nextyear. As itstands, the Citroen C4 X could compete with the Renault Arkana in the samecategory.
In terms ofdimensions, the Citroen C4 X is positioned in thecarmakers’ range between the C4(4.36m) and the C5 X(4.81m).Also inprice, the C4 X will be between the C4 and the C5 X while the C-Elysée was cheaper than theC4. Like many othermanufacturers, Citroen is taking advantage of the launch of a new model to substantially increase itsprices.
The C4 X is based on the same CMP platform as theC4, and like theC4, it will be available in a thermal version(1.2petrol, 1.5diesel) and in a battery electric version which has a range of 350kilometers.
The C4 X will be produced in the Spanish plant ofVillaverde, alongside theC4, at the rate of 50,000 units per year according toInovev. InChina, the C4 X could be produced at 25,000 units per year at the Wuhansite. It would thus succeed C-Elysée andFukang. Citroen on itsside, is aiming for a production of 120,000 cars produced per year inVillaverde, including 80,000 C4 and 40,000 C4X.

  • Inovev plans 100,000 units of the new Peugeot 408

Inovev plans 100,000 units of the new Peugeot 408
Peugeot (a subsidiary ofthe Stellantisgroup) has just unveiled its new 408 saloon(codeP54),which, as its namesuggests, fits between the 308(segmentC) and the 508(segmentD). We can therefore say that the 408 is located between segment C and segmentD, with a length of 4.69 m(6 cm less than a 508 and 32 cm more than a308), a width of 1.86 m and a height of 1.48m.
Its modern design brings it closer to the Citroën C5X and could quickly outmode the508. Sold in Europe andChina, like theC5X, it will be produced both in Europe andChina, unlike the C5X which is only produced in inChina.
InChina, the 408 will also be called 408X because there is already a very recent 408 on this market(it is a 308notchback).
The Peugeot 408 announces a Cd of0.28, much better than that of the 3008 and 5008SUVs. Compared to the 308 with which it shares the EMP2platform, the 408 is larger inside because it benefits from the elongated from the 308 SW stationwagon.
Its engines ignore thediesel, since they consist of a 3-cylinder 1.2 petrol engine with 130 hp and a 1.6 petrol rechargeable hybrid with 180 hp or 225hp, although rechargeable hybrid engines will have to be prohibited from the sale from2035. A100% electric version is planned for2023, like the 308 with which it will share theengine.
The Peugeot 408 by its positioning does not really have arival, except perhaps the Citroën C5X of segmentD, the DS4 of segment C or the Renault Arkana of segmentC.The Peugeot 408 will be produced on the French site of Mulhouse and on the Chinese site in Chengdu(Dongfeng) at the rate of 100,000 units intotal, including 75,000 in France and 25,000 inChina.

  • Inovev plans 80,000 units per year of the new Fiat Doblo

Inovev plans 80,000 units per year of the new Fiat Doblo
Fiat has presented its new N1-1 segment light utility vehicle, which is the third generation oftheDoblo, following the first launched in 2000 and the second in2010.
Integration into the Stellantis groupobliges, the new Doblo takes over thebodywork, the EMP2 platform and the engines of the CitroënBerlingo, PeugeotPartner, Opel Combo and Toyota ProAceCity, including the100% electric engine(with the same batterycapacity: 50kWh). Thermal engines including the 1.2 petrol and 1.5 liter diesel already known in the PSAera.
Like thesemodels, the newDoblo, which will be available in LCV(goodstransport) and VP(passengertransport)versions, will be manufactured at the Spanish site in Vigo and no longer at the Turkish site inBursa.
The Doblo had lost a lot of influence in recentyears, its production volume having gradually increased from 140,000 units in 2007 to 80,000 in 2014 and 65,000 in2021. The model will therefore take the place of the Citroën C4 SpaceTourer on the site de Vigo from July2022, since Stellantis has announced the removal of this minivan from itscatalog.
With the arrival of the new FiatDoblo, the range of light commercial vehicles of Stellantis is now completelyhomogeneous, since the models of the N1-1 segment are allidentical, as are those of the N1-2 segment and those of the N1-3segment.
Inovev expects 80,000 Fiat Doblo sales peryear, compared with 80,000 Citroën Berlingo sales in2021, 80,000 PeugeotPartner/Riftersales, 40,000 Opel Combo sales and 20,000 Toyota sales ProAceCity.

  • Launch of future Chrysler models in the NAFTA zone 2022-2026

Launch of future Chrysler models in the NAFTA zone 2022-2026
By 2026, Chrysler (part ofStellantis) will launch several new models in the North American market. Other models will be redesigned or restyled. It is in 2024 that the carmaker will introduce the most new features.
Chrysler: For the Chrysler brand, only the Airflow, an all-electric crossover model, has been announced for 2025.
Dodge: The new Hornet GT model is planned for 2022 and a plug-in version of the Hornet R/T model for the first half of 2023. Two new electric models, the Charger Daytona and the Challenger, will be launched in 2024.
Jeep: The brand will release the Wagoneer L and Grand Wagoneer L models in 2022. In 2024, the new Recon, Wagoneer S models, as well as Wagoneer or Grand Wagoneer 4xe will be launched. It is possible that the Cherokee will be redesigned in 2025 and the Renegade in 2026.
Ram: The year 2023 will see the launch of theProMaster, based on the FiatDoblo, and the year 2024 that of the Ram 1500.
Even though Chrysler releases 11 more models than its competitor Ford, it is still behind the GM group, which will release 25 new models by 2026. This can also be explained by the fact that after the year 2024, during of which many new Chrysler models will be launched, only one model has been announced for 2025, the Chrysler Airflow, and that there will, at present, only be redesigned models in 2026.
The carmaker will therefore release 5 electric vehicles, 5 thermal vehicles and a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) by 2025.

  • Opel abandons plans to return to China

Opel abandons plans to return to China
The German firm Opel, which was acquired from the GM group (with its British branch Vauxhall) by the PSA group in 2017, was integrated intothe Stellantis group at the time of the merger between PSA and FCA in2021. Due to its past membership of the GMgroup,Opel has never been able to develop on markets outside Europebecause of the preference given to the Chevrolet brand on thesemarkets.Worse, Opel had to follow Chevrolet's withdrawal strategy in Russia andUkraine. Inshort, Opel concentrated its sales and production on the European continentexclusively.
Within the PSAgroup, which bought it in2017, Opel continued to focus on the Europeanmarket, especially in Germany and England where the brand(and its subsidiaryVauxhall) had always achieved its best sales(half of itssales).
The situation became more difficult from2021, the date of the PSA merger withFCA, where Opel found itself in the same market segment asFiat. The strategy of the Stellantis group then consisted of repositioning the Opel brand between Fiat andPeugeot, by a slight move upmarket and repositioning Fiat in the entry-level category withCitroën.
This new positioning had prompted Opel's management to consider marketing its models inChina, the world's leading automotivemarket, but given the difficulties encountered by the Stellantis group in this market(the manufacturer has just stopped sales of Jeep ), the lack of notoriety of the Opel brand inChina, the German brand preferred to abandon its project and consider establishing itself in othermarkets.

The Stellantis group, made up offourteenbrands, will exhibit only a few of them at the ParisMotor Show.
Peugeot will exhibit its new 408sedan derivedfrom the 308. This modelproduced inMulhouse alongside the 308 will try to attract a newcustomer base thatis less traditional, more sporty and attracted to SUVs.
Peugeot will alsoexhibit acompetition hypercar (9x8) no doubt to attract young visitors to the Show who will form the brand's future clientele.
DS will exhibit itsfacelifted andrenamed models (DS3 and DS7), as well as the DS4 and DS9. The Premium brand will exhibit the E-Tense which will somewhat play the role of the 9x8 for Peugeot.
Jeep should exhibit its new B-segment SUVnamed Avenger(a name derived from Chrysler Europe and Talbot heritage) whichuse the same platform as the Peugeot 2008 and other B segment cars of the group. • Peugeot and Citroën cancel their projects in the A-segment market

Peugeot and Citroën cancel their projects in the A-segment market
TheStellantis group has decided to cancel plans for the future Peugeot and CitroënA-segment models, which were to replace the Peugeot 108 and Citroën C1, whose production was halted lastsummer atthe Czechplant inKolin.
The models planned for 2025, coded P44 for the Peugeot and CJ4 for the Citroën, weresupposed tobe small SUVsof 4.15 m long representing the new entry level of the two brands. These vehicles were intended to bemarketed with an electric powertrain. AtPeugeot, for example, the future e-1008 would have been cheaper than an e-2008 or an e-208.
Because these two models were already in preparation, they took over an existing platform, the “low cost” CMP of the Citroën C3 produced in India from 2021 and adapted to this market, and not the future “Small” platform, notyet in production. Thesefuture small models were planned to be offered in emerging markets in South America, in particular with thermal engines (gasoline).
For cost reasons, but also because since the start of the CJ4-P44 project (May 2019)theStellantis group was created and gave priority to Fiat and Citroën to invest in emerging markets, the future smallprojects have beenpurelycancelled.TheStellantis group continues despite everything in theA-segment, with the Fiat brand and thee-500, which could be the only one to be positionedat thelong term in theA-segmentwithin the group, since the replacement of the Panda will be repositioned on theB-segment.

  • Peugeot wants to go all-electric in 2030 in Europe

Peugeot wants to go all-electric in 2030 in Europe
TheStellantis group announced during the year that its brands would gradually switch tobattery electric technologyin terms of new cars, the group's brands sold in Europe being the first to switch to all-electric, the last being the brands marketed in NorthAmerica, like Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram.
Hereis the summary of theswitchto all electric atStellantis:Abarthin 2024, DS in 2024, Maserati in 2025, Lancia in 2026, Alfa-Romeo in 2027, Opel in 2028 and Fiat in 2030.
There was still an imprecision concerning Peugeot and Citroën. Today, this imprecision isclarified becausetheStellantis group has just announced thatthe Peugeot brand willswitch to all-electricin 2030 in Europe. Peugeot, however, plans to maintain a thermal offer for markets outside Europe.
The Peugeot rangein Europe, nowconsists of the 208, 2008, 308, 3008, 508, 5008 which make up theline-up ofpassenger cars,as the108 was discontinued last summer. In addition, a new modelnamed 4008is scheduled for 2022. It is therefore a minimum of seven models that will have to switch fromthermal motorisations to electric motorsby 2030. The future generation of the 3008 and 5008 scheduled for 2023will continueto bemarketed inthermalversions until2030 but the next generation will necessarily bebattery electric. The future generation of the 308 and 508 will also bebatteryelectric, just like the future generation of the 208 and 2008 scheduled for 2026.

  • Peugeot+Citroën and Renault+Dacia neck and neck on the European passenger car market

Peugeot+Citroën and Renault+Dacia neck and neck on the European passenger car market
The passenger car market share for the Renault, Peugeot, Citroën and Dacia brands in Europe (29 countries) which was 25% between 2000 and 2003, fell gradually to 24% in 2004, 23% in 2005 and 21.5% between 2006 and 2008 before stabilizing at 20% between 2012 and 2021. Butthe situation between the four brands has evolved over time, even if the Renault brand remained first until 2020, the Peugeot brand remaining second until 2020, with the Citroën brand remaining third until 2021 and the Dacia brand remaining fourth until 2021.
The situation has evolved in the sense that the gap between Renault and Peugeot has only narrowed since the year 2000, and the year 2021 marks a significant change in the sense that thePeugeot brand has moved ahead of the Renault brand in Europe for the first time in its history, with a difference of 60,000 units (701,000 VP against 641,000 VP).
On the other hand, the gap between Citroën and Dacia has only decreased since 2005, and the year 2021 marks such a small gap that it is possible that Dacia will overtake Citroën in 2022 or 2023.
In 2021, Peugeot represents 6.6% of the European passenger car market, Renault 6.2%, Citroën 4.1% and Dacia 3.7%. It is interesting to note that since 2016, the addition of Renault and Dacia achieves a market share comparable to that of the addition of Peugeot and Citroën. This market share is close to 10%, slightly above 20% for all four brands.
Dacia only compensated for the decline in Renault's market share, without increasing or reducing it.

  • Stellantis and Dongfeng decide to end their partnership

Stellantis and Dongfeng decide to end their partnership
TheStellantis Group, the result of the merger of the PSA (Peugeot-Citroën) and FCA (Fiat-Chrysler) groups in 2021, has decided to end its collaboration with the Chinese carmaker Dongfeng, with whom PSA had been working for around 30 years.
This collaboration had been beneficial until 2014, a record year in which 750,000 PSA vehicles were produced by Dongfeng in China, after twenty years of uninterrupted growth (except for 2008). However, due to competition and marketing mistakes, this trend reversed from 2015. The decline of PSA production in China accelerated from 2016,with less than 100,000 PSA Group cars produced by Dongfeng in China in 2020.The establishment ofStellantis in 2021 did not really improve the situation. There was no real upturn in 2021 and 2022. At the same time, Dongfeng gradually withdrew fromStellantis' capital, from 6.1% to 3.2% in 2022, with the remaining shares to be sold in 2023.
On the FCA Group side, the situation was no better. Its production in China has always been very weak and ended in 2022 with the bankruptcy of the joint venture with the Chinese GAC Group that produced Jeeps.
Taken together, these difficulties convincedStellantis' management to finally abandon the Chinese market (the largest automotive market in the world) andfocus on the European and American markets, where theStellantis Group has 19% and 12% of registrations (cars+LUVs), respectively, while it has only a 0.6% market share in China.
Stellantis could therefore stop producing cars in China from 2024 or 2025.

Stellantis will produce a new Toyota LCV based on the Fiat Ducato from 2024
The Stellantis and Toyota groups have been collaborating for several years in the field of LCVs(light utilityvehicles).
In the N1-1segment, which represents small light commercialvehicles, the Toyota ProAce City borrows its bodywork and engines from the CitroënBerlingo, PeugeotPartner, Opel Combo and future FiatDoblo. This vehicle is produced at the Spanish site inVigo, alongside thesemodels.

In the N1-3segment, which represents large light commercialvehicles, there was currently no Toyota model based on the Stellantis groupmodels. Morocco's production volume increased from 50,000 vehicles in 2011 to 100,000 in 2012, 260,000 in 2014, 320,000 in 2016, 390,000 in 2018 and 430,000 in 2019. Since that date, which marked the record in Moroccan automotive production, production volume hasleveled off at around 380,000 units per year, althoughStellantis will start operations inKenitra in 2019, an equivalent level to Poland. What is Morocco's future in the automotive industry in 2023-2030?
    1. Tanger: This plant has just started production of the Mobilize Duo small urban vehicle in November 2022, replacing theTwizy, which was produced in Spain. It is the first 100% electric vehicle to be produced at this site. The carmaker is talking about 17,000 units produced per year. In 2026, it will be joined by the all-electricSandero, which will achieve a much higher volume.
    2. Kenitra: This plant, which currently produces Peugeot 208 with internal combustion engine and Citroën Ami with electric motor (22,500 units produced since the launch in April 2020),will double its production capacity from 200,000 to 400,000 vehicles per year. Currently, theKenitra plant produces less than 100,000 vehicles per year, but the carmaker will gradually increase the production volume of the Peugeot 208 with internal combustion engine. This will be at the expense of theTrnava plant in Slovakia, which in return will soon start production of the Citroën C3Aircross and the new-generation Opel Crossland.

  • The future Citroën C5 Aircross will be available in a battery electric version

The future Citroën C5 Aircross will be available in a battery electric version
TheStellantis group has announced that the next generation ofthe Citroën C5Aircross SUV (code CR3) will be launched in 2025 and will be based on the STLA Medium platform, which will be also use by the Peugeot 3008 and 5008 (launch in 2023). The new C5Aircross will be assembled at the Rennes plant, like the current generation, and will be available for the first time in a battery electric version in addition to the mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions.
As for the plants ofVigo, Zaragoza,Villaverde,Trnava,Poissy,Mirafiori,Valenciennes, Ellesmere Port, Val diSangro, the Rennes plant will therefore become a factory producing electric vehicles in addition to thermal vehicles. To complete this list, we can also add the Sochaux plant which will assemble the electric versions of the future Peugeot 3008 and 5008 from 2023, the Mulhouse plant which will produce the electric versions of the Peugeot 308 from 2023 and DS7Crossback from 2025, theRüsselsheim plant which will produce the electric versions of the Opel Astra and DS4 from 2023. We must add the future Peugeot 4008 (code P54) which will be assembled in Mulhouse from 2022, in an hybrid and electric version.
The choice of the production site for the future OpelGrandland has not yet been taken. This new generation could be produced either in Eisenach (Germany), including the battery electric version, or in Sochaux (France) alongside the future 3008 and 5008. This strategy confirms that theStellantis group wants to continue to spread its production of electric vehicles on all the sites where the thermal versions of these vehicles are also produced.

  • The influence of 100% electric on sales of the Citroën Berlingo, Opel Combo and Peugeot Partner

The influence of 100% electric on sales of the Citroën Berlingo, Opel Combo and Peugeot Partner
The Stellantis group decided last fall to market the"passengercar" versions of the CitroënBerlingo, Opel Combo and Peugeot Partner only in a100% electricengine. What was the consequence of this radical decision in terms of sales of these vehicles inEurope?
We observe that the monthly sales volume which reached 3,000 to 7,000 units before this decision(first half of2021)i.e. 5,000 units per month on average or 60,000 per year divided into 25,000 units atCitroën, 25,000 at Peugeot and 10,000 atOpel, fell to 2,000 units per month on average in the second half of 2021 and the first half of2022, which represents a drop of60% compared to the first half of2021.
The decision to market these models only in the battery electric version therefore reduced the sales of these models by more thanhalf, thus following the example of the Smartwhich, when they were available only in the electricversion, saw their distribution reduced by more thanhalf.
This may also indicate(byextension) that if carmakers decide to no longer market their thermal enginemodels, a market drop of more than50% could be expected at longterm.Hoppefully, the deadline proposed by the European Commission is the year2035, which will allow a large segment of customers to be able to gradually switch from thermal cars to electriccars. However, a market decline between 2030 and 2035 cannot be ruledout.

  • The Stellantis plant in Tremery at the time of the electric vehicle

The Stellantis plant in Tremery at the time of the electric vehicle
The Tremery plant has been manufacturing combustion engines for PSA since the1980s. Due to the new direction taken by manufacturers following the various decisions of European governance to reduce CO2emissions, this plant has been transformed to gradually produce engineselectrical. It will be the only Stellantis in Europe to produce electricmotors. It was in 2019 that the transition began on the site with the manufacture of the electric motor for the Peugeot208, Peugeot2008, Citroën DS3Crossback, OpelCorsa, Opel Mokka and that of light commercial vehicles such as the CitroënBerlingo, PeugeotPartner, Opel Combo , CitroënJumpy, PeugeotExpert, OpelVivaro. In2021, these models represented 125,000 electricmotors. Since2020, the Tremery plant has been manufacturing the electric motor for the group's hybridvehicles, such as the Peugeot 3008 or OpelGrandland. New electric models have been added to the oldones, such as the CitroënC4, as well as new hybrid models such as the Peugeot 308 and OpelAstra. Their engines are manufactured at the Tremerysite.
The current electric Fiat500, whose design dates from before the merger of PSA withFCA, will keep its electric motor manufactured in Hildesheim(Germany) byBosch, but for the futuregeneration, the electric motor will be manufactured inTremery, which will increase the site production volume of 100,000 to 150,000 units peryear.
Intotal, Inovev is counting on 350,000 electric motors manufactured in Tremery for BEVs in 2025 plus 200,000 forPHEVs. In2030, Inovev forecasts 700,000 units for BEVs plus 200,000 forPHEVs.The Douvrin plant will become a battery plant for electriccars.

  • What explains the collapse of the Chrysler brand since 2005?

What explains the collapse of the Chrysler brand since 2005?
The Chrysler brand has seen its production volume drop from 815,000 vehicles in 2005 to 88,000 in 2021, representing a 90% drop in sixteen years. What explains this collapse?
In 2005, the Chrysler brand, which had again become a luxury brand competing with Lincoln (Ford) and Cadillac (GM) since the disappearance of the Imperial brand in 1975, had been part of the DaimlerChrysler group since 1998, the date of the merger of the Daimler and Chrysler. The Chrysler group was then made up of the Plymouth, Dodge, Jeep and Chrysler brands. At that time, the Chrysler brand offered the Sebring and 300 sedans, the Voyager andTown&Country minivans, as well as original models such as the Pacifica station wagon, the Crossfire convertible and the small PT Cruiser minivan, making seven models in total.
In 2007, Daimler separates from Chrysler and the American manufacturer must then rely on itself to survive, which will be difficult when the subprime crisis intervenes in 2009. The manufacturer goes bankrupt and is bought in 2011 by the Italian Fiat. The Chrysler range is reduced to three models: the 300 sedan, theTown&Country minivan and the 200 compact sedan which replaces the Sebring, the latter model using an Alfa-Romeo platform.Production fell to 300,000 units in 2011.
The following years will be marked by a total lack of interest from Fiat management for the survival of the Chrysler brand, which favors the development of the Jeep brand (belonging to the group since 1987) which better meets the growing demand for SUVs. This is how Chrysler lost the 200 sedan in 2016 and its range froze around the 300 sedan and the Pacifica minivan which succeeded the Town & Country. In 2021, Chrysler production fell to 88,000 units.

  • Where are Stellantis battery electric vehicles produced?

Where are Stellantis battery electric vehicles produced?
Volkswagen has announced that it wants to produce 700,000 battery electric vehicles (BEVs) per year at five different assembly plants in Germany by 2030, in addition to the 500,000 BEVs per year at theMartorell plant in Spain. On its side, Renault has announced that it wants to produce 400,000 BEVs per year at the Douai plant in France, in addition to the 100,000 BEVs per year at theMaubeuge plant in France. What about theStellantis group's strategy regarding BEV production location?
The current production ofStellantis BEVs is spread all over Europe and it is possible that it will remain the case for several years. Indeed,Stellantis BEVs are directly derived from primarily combustion engine vehicles and therefore share the same platforms, which are then adapted for electric versions. These versions are assembled at the same plant where the thermal versions of these models are produced.
Thus, the e-Corsa is produced where theCorsa is produced, in Zaragoza (Spain); the e-208 where the 208 is produced, inTrnava (Slovakia); the e-2008 where the 2008 is produced, inVigo (Spain); the e-C4 where the C4 is produced, inVillaverde (Spain); the e-Mokka where theMokka is produced, inPoissy (France); the DS3Crossback E-Tense where the DS3Crossback, inPoissy (France),etc...
On the other hand, some models, like the Fiat e-500, are assembled at specific plants. And theStellantis group has announced that the Ellesmere Port site will become in 2022 a site dedicated to the production of Citroën e-Berlingo, Peugeot e-Partner, Opel e-Combo and Toyota e-ProAce City. It is therefore not impossible that in the future, with the full electrification of certainStellantis brands, plants may become dedicated to the production of battery electric vehicles, but not before 2024.

  • Why Spain will be the largest BEV producer in 2030

Why Spain will be the largest BEV producer in 2030
The European country where the most 100% electric vehicles are expected to be produced in 2030 will not be France or Germany, but Spain. In fact, most automakers have announced their plans for the next five to six years regarding the production of vehicles in Spain with this type of propulsion, and we can see that they are numerous :
    1. Zaragoza: production plant for the new Opel e-Corsa, Peugeot e-208, Lancia e-Ypsilon.
    2. Villaverde: production site for the Citroën e-C4 and e-C4 X.
    3. Vitoria: production site for Mercedes e-Vito.
    4. Vigo: production site for Peugeot e-2008. Citroën e-Berlingo, Peugeot e-Partner, Opel e-Combo and their Toyota derivatives moved to the Ellesmere Port site in the UK.
    5. Martorell: Production site for the future Volkswagen ID1/ID2 and their Skoda,Cupra and Audi derivatives.
    6. Valencia: Possible production site for future Ford electric vehicles.
    7. Pamplona: No electric models are currently planned.
The Martorell plant alone is planned to produce 500,000 electric vehicles per year. In total,Spain could produce 1.5 million electric vehicles in 2030, accounting for half of its automotive production, while Germany could produce 1.3 million and France 0.8 million electric vehicles at the same time.
