Tesla struggles to ramp up production of its Model 3
The Californian manufacturer Tesla manufactured only 260 Model 3 in September 2017, when it planned to manufacture 1,500 units. Tesla started production of this model in July (30 units produced), then the production volume reached 100 units in August and 260 units in September.

The volume was multiplied by 3 in August compared to July and again by 3 in September compared to August. This start seems normal. It is  the production goals that are unrealistics. Even more so given that the manufacturer plans to manufacture 400,000 Model 3 in 2018 and 800,000 in 2020.

The ramp -up will be slower than expected. But this is not a problem of congestion on the assembly line of Fremont. Indeed, Tesla currently produces 5,600 Model S and 3,000 Model X per month, with no particular difficulty. At this rate, the manufacturer will probably produce 100,000 vehicles in 2017, compared to 80,000 in 2016 and 50,000 in 2015.

Over the last three years the volume of Tesla production has increased by 20 000 to 30 000 units  per year, which leads to believe that the targets and the acceleration of the production curve of Tesla during the next three years should both  be clearly revised downwards. Model 3 production should  be around 150,000 units in 2018, 200,000 in 2019 and 250,000 in 2020.
