The most produced car in Asia in 2017
- The car produced most in Asia in 2017 is also the most produced car in Japan in 2017, the Toyota RAV4 which has totaled 558,000 units manufactured (including 430,000 in Japan and 128,000 in China). This SUV is for the first time ahead of the Chinese minivan GM-Wuling Hongguang (545,000 units) which was until now the most produced model in Asia.
- The Hongguang‘s production has declined since 2015, due to the declining influence of minivans on the Chinese market explained by the strong growth of SUVs, but also due to the rise in cadences of Baojun models from GM-Wuling platforms. The Hongguang has thus gone from first to second place in 2017 and this decline can only increase in the future.
- The Toyota RAV4 is the most produced model in Asia, but also the fourth most produced in the world, behind the Ford F Series F (1,073,000 units), Toyota Corolla (974,000) and VW Golf (923,000). The current Toyota RAV4, which dates from 2013, is the fourth generation of the model. The fifth generation will be presented in 2018, with the start of sales planned for the first half of 2019.
- The Toyota RAV4 and GM-WulingHongguangare ahead of the Toyota Hilux and VW Lavida. Of the 15 most-produced models in Asia in 2017, there are 4 Volkswagen, 3 Toyota, 3 Nissan, 1 GM-Wuling, 1 Buick, 1 Baojun, 1 Mazda and 1 Suzuki.
