Global production of vehicles increased by 4% in 2022
- The global production of vehicles (PC+UV) increased by 4% in 2022, according to Inovev estimates, despite a drop in registrations of around 2%. This tends to show that carmakers have decided to stock after a period of significant destocking during 2020 and 2021 due to the health crisis, then the semiconductor crisis.
- In total, nearly 84 million vehicles were produced worldwide in 2022, including 50 million on the Asian continent (60% of global production), but it is in North America that the increase in production was the strongest (+12%), in particular due to relocations.
- Europe saw its production felt by 5% but the most depressed region was the Russia-Ukraine-Belarus region due to the Russian-Ukrainian war.
