- Global sales of Volvo Cars could not exceed 425 000 units in 2012, as they totaled 422 000 units only, against 425,000 in 2011.
- The manufacturer has missed its goal of selling 475,000 vehicles throughout 2012. in the United States, its biggest market, Volvo reported a sales increase of 1.2% last year to 67,000 units. In contrast, in China, the Swedish brand has suffered a decline in sales of 10% down to 42,000 units.
- On the European market, sales fell 10% down to 227,000 units, despite an increase in its main market in Europe, the United Kingdom (+ 1% to 68,000 units), and despite the good start of the new V40. The removal of the C30, S40 and V50 in late 2012 has for sure been a significant cause of the overall sales drop of the Swedish brand.
- By 2020, Volvo maintains its goal of selling 800,000 vehicles per year, including 200,000 in the Chinese market.
