Toyota is going to produce a new Corolla in Turkey

Toyota is going to produce its 11th generation Corolla in its Turkish Adapazari plant as from this month. The new Corolla sedan version of the Auris will be primarily destined for European markets in the South and East. The world's largest manufacturer is also considering adding another vehicle in the same factory, probably a small SUV competitor of the Nissan Juke. The Toyota plant in Adapazari has produced since its establishment in 1994, more than one million vehicles, mainly composed of several generations of Corolla, between 1994 and 2006. Since then, the factory only produced Auris and Verso models (people carrier version of the Auris).

But demand for sedan vehicles are significant markets in Southern and Eastern Europe (including Russia), it has been agreed against all odds to launch a new Corolla in Turkey in 2013. Unexpected consequence of this launch, the Auris production has been focused in the UK Burnaston plant since January.

The manufacturer plans to produce 180,000 units per year on this site, including Corolla Verso.
