Inovev expects 135 000 annual sales of the new VW Touran in Europe

Europe's first and the world's second largest manufacturer, the Volkswagen Group, has unveiled the second generation of its minivan from segment C, the Touran, still based on the Golf.

This second generation benefits from the lightweight MQB modular platform that is present throughout the group’s  brands and allows it a weight loss of about sixty kilos according to the manufacturer.

The new Touran reproduces the general design of the latest Golf and Golf Sportsvan. It replaces a model dating from 2003 (twelve-year lifecycle is a long time for a car) but had managed to establish itself on the European compact MPV market.
Now that the market is significantly down (mainly victim of competition from SUVs) it will make it more difficult for the Touran to defend its positions.

Inovev however expects, 135 000 annual sales in Europe (on average), this model will be manufactured in Wolfsburg, alongside the Golf and Tiguan, Volkswagen as a result of its dominance in the European market and the legendary loyalty that customers of this brand have for its segments B, C and D.

The engines available at launch will be: three petrol engines (1.2 TSI 110 hp, 1.4 TSI 150 hp and a 1.8 TSI 180 hp) and three diesel engines (1.6 TDI 110 hp, 2.0 TDI 150 hp and a 2.0 TDI 190 hp).
