According to Inovev, the new Mercedes E-Class could be produced at 300 000 units annually

 

The German manufacturer Mercedes (Daimler Group) launches the new generation of the E-Class (segment E) that reuses the aesthetics of the C-Class and S-Class launched both in 2013. The previous E-Class dating from 2009, the life cycle this model has been seven years, like most vehicles of this brand.

This new model competes with the Audi A6 and BMW 5 Series, which will be renewed in a few months, but also the Volvo S90 and Jaguar XF, and to a lesser extent - the Lexus GS and Infiniti Q70. The main markets for the E-Class will be traditionally Europe ( were it sold 85 000 units last year), the US ( were 50 000 units were sold last year) and China ( were 60 000 units were sold last year), for a production of 260 000 units in 2015, according to Inovev.

The new E-Class could be manufactured at 300 000 units annually when it reaches its cruising speed, including 220 000 in Europe (Sindelfingen) and 80 000 in China (Beijing).

The engines in the new E-Class will initially include: a 2.0 gasoline of 185ch and a 2.0 diesel engine of 150hp and 195hp, a 3.0 diesel of 258hp and finally a hybrid engine (2.0 petrol 205ch + electric motor 82ch) . Other more powerful engines (including AMG versions) will be available later.

The estate , coupe and convertible versions of the E-Class will be unveiled in the coming months.
