Inovev predicts sales of 160 000 per year for the BMW X3
BMW has unveiled the new generation of its X3 SUV (D segment). This new generation is lighter than the previous one, thanks to the use of the CLAR platform used by the recent 5 Series, 6 Series and 7 Series. This platform was designed for all BMW-rear wheel or all-wheel drive vehicles . It will therefore also be used on the future 3 Series, 4 Series and 8 Series as well as on the future X4, X5, X6 and X7 SUVs.

The new X3, which is using the engines of the current generation, will be manufactured as previously on the US site in Spartanburg, South Carolina, alongside the X4, X5, X6 and future X7, at a rate of 160,000 units per year.

- The current generation was launched in 2010 and will be removed from the brand catalog in November 2017, therefore having a seven-year life cycle. The X4 coupe version will be replaced in 2018 (its life cycle will therefore not exceed four years). The new X3 will compete with the premium D segment SUVs, such as Audi Q5, Mercedes GLC, Volvo XC60, Jaguar F-Pace, Porsche Macan, Alfa-Romeo Stelvio, Lexus NX and DS 7 Crossback ...

- In 2016, BMW sold 155,000 X3, 151,000 of which were manufactured in Spartanburg, along with 165,000 X5s, 56,000  X4s and 38,000  X6s. The Spartanburg site, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, produced 410,000 SUVs last year, 115,000 of which were sold in Europe and 105,000 in the USA.
