Inovev expects production of 250,000 Jeep Wranglers / year
- The Fiat-Chrysler Group has unveiled the new generation of the Jeep Wrangler with the traditional silhouette of this model that is the direct heir to Jeep of the 1940s and 50s, although the vehicle has undergone many changes since that time. The last major change seen in the previous generation (2007-2017) was the addition of a four-door long version that doubled Wrangler's sales. These have increased from 150,000 annual units to approximately 250,000 units.
- Inovev believes that the new generation will remain at this level for several more years, despite the expected decline in the US market as a whole.
- The Jeep Wrangler has a special aura, by its history and design, and intends to maintain its particularity in the face of the multitude of SUV that have appeared on the market for ten years. Even within the Jeep range, the Wrangler retains a loyal customer base and still accounts for nearly 20% of the brand's sales, despite the expansion of the range in recent years. The Wrangler will be produced as previously on the site of Toledo (Ohio - USA), a historic site of the Jeep brand, since Willys already manufactured these models there in the 40s and 50s. The engines are a 4-cylinder 2.0 gasoline 260hp, a V6 3.0 diesel 250hp and a V6 3.6 gasoline of 280hp. The only models comparable to the Wrangler are the Mercedes G-Class (launched in 1979) and the now defunct Land Rover Defender.
