Tesla adds a pickup to its range
Tesla, The Californian carmakers of 100% electric cars (BEVs), has unveiled its fifth model, after the launch of Model S (2013),
Model
X (2015), Model 3 (2018) and Model Y (2019). This time is a pickup with futuristic lines, suggesting a stealth aircraft.

This 100% electric pickup, named Cybertruck, will be in production from the autumn of 2021. Despite its unusual style, the Cybertruck use the codes of the pick-up segment, with a cabin designed for six passengers and a cargo bed that can carry 1.5 tons of goods. However, it contrasts with a body made of ultra-resistant steel  and with a set of batteries that will allow it to get an estimated range of 800km (WLTP cycle), a range never obtained until then by a BEV.

The Tesla Cybertruck will be marketed in a highly competitive market, but very traditional, because pick-up customers, especially American, are very conservative and very devoted to their favorite brand. Cybertruck competitors are mainly Ford (Series F), Chevrolet (Silverado) Golden Dodge (Ram). The Tesla pickup will also compete with the RivianR1T, also a BEV pick-up but with a more conventional style.

In conclusion, Inovev remains skeptical about the future of this new Tesla model. The sales volume could be between 25,000 and 50,000 units per year. Announced price started at $40,000 for the basic model (250 km of range of autonomy), which is $10,000 more than the basic version of the Ford F-150. The top range is set at $70,000 (800 km of range autonomy).
