The Honda group remains the world's seventh largest carmaker in 2022
- The Honda group remains the seventh largest carmaker in the world in 2022, behind the GM and Stellantisgroups and ahead of the Ford group, with a volume of 3.78 million vehicles sold compared to 4.48 million in 2021, which represents a relatively significant drop of 15.7% in a global market down 2%.
- This decline is explained by the poor performance of the Honda group in several major markets, such as the United States (-32.9% in a market at -7.8%), China (-9.0% in a market at +9.7%), in Canada (-30% in a market at -7.8%), in Brazil (-30.4% in a market at +1.2%), in Mexico (- 8.7% in a market at +7%) and even in Japan (-2% in a market at -6.2%). Only Southeast Asian countries such as India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam and Taiwan saw Honda sales rise, but with relatively low volumes.
- The carmaker explains its various declines by a shortage of components causing delivery problems and poor availability of models in the range. However, Honda said it produced 3.87 million vehicles in 2022, up 2.4% from sales in 2022.
- The Honda Group's global sales in 2022 break down as follows:
§ China remains its largest market, with 1.40 million vehicles, or 37% of its global sales.
§ The United States remains its second market, with 983,500 vehicles, or 26% of its global sales.
§ Japan is its third largest market, with 568,000 vehicles, or 15% of its global sales.
§ Europe does not even represent 2% of Honda sales with around 67,000 vehicles sold there.
