Paris Motorshow 2024: Inovev forecasts 300,000 units per year of the new Audi Q5
- The Audi brand (a premium brand of the Volkswagen group) has unveiled the third generation of its D-segment SUV, the Q5, which replaces the 2016 model. Based on the new PPC platform dedicated to models with thermal and hybrid engines (the PPE platform being dedicated to battery electric models), the new Q5 is equipped with a 2.0 TFSI petrol engine or a 2.0 TDI diesel engine, supported by a 48V micro-hybridisation (MHEV), which brings the power of these two engines to 265 hp and 204 hp respectively. Plug-in hybrid versions of 299 hp and 367 hp based on the 2.0 petrol will be added next year. The new Audi Q5 SUV competes with the Mercedes GLC, BMW X3, Volvo XC60 and Jaguar F-Pace. Its dimensions are also comparable to those of the Mercedes GLC: 4.72 m long, 1.89 m wide, 1.65 m high.
- The Audi Q5 has been the best-selling model of the Audi brand for several years, because it is a mid-range SUV sold in Europe, China and North America. It is also manufactured today in China and North America (Mexico) in roughly equivalent volumes, but not in Europe, which imports the Q5 from Mexico. The Audi Q5, with 333,000 units produced in 2023, supplants the Audi Q3 (C segment) which did not exceed 200,000 units last year.
- The new Audi Q5 SUV will be manufactured at the San José Chiapa site (Mexico) and at the Changchun site (China) at 300,000 units per year, split 50/50 between these two sites.
