Context

The Buick brand (a subsidiary of the American group GM) is the best-performing GM brand in China , having sold 427,000 cars in China in 2025 compared to 323,000 in 2024, while Chevrolet delivered only 90,000 units compared to 98,000 in 2024 and Cadillac 92,000 units compared to 79,000 in 2024. Buick's current Chinese lineup consists of seven different models: three sedans (the D-segment La Crosse, B-segment Regal , and E-segment Electra L7 BEV), one SUV ( the C-segment Envision ), and three MPVs (the E-segment Century, E-segment GL8, and Electra). Encasa BEV (E-segment).
Despite the rebound seen in 2025, Buick is far from reaching its sales figures of 2015-2018, when the brand achieved over one million sales per year in China. Buick is expected to unveil its new 4.85-meter-long Electra E7 plug-in hybrid SUV at the 2026 Beijing Motor Show. The brand remains cautious regarding powertrains because its latest all-electric models have not achieved the expected success, which was one of the reasons for the decline in its sales in China between 2018 and 2024.
