Context

The Korean carmaker Hyundai has been producing cars in China since the early 2000s through its partner BAIC, but its sales have fallen sharply in the country, probably because the Korean carmaker did not make the switch to electric vehicles quickly enough, as required by most Chinese carmakers.
Its sales volume gradually declined from 1,135,000 units in 2016 to 794,000 in 2018, 451,000 in 2020, 255,000 in 2022, and 196,000 in 2024. Hyundai did, however, manage to halt its decline in 2025, with 212,000 sales. But this figure is far from the figures for the years 2016-2018 (-80% in nine years).
Today, Hyundai intends to change pace. Several all-electric concept cars, designed specifically for the Chinese market, will be presented at the 2026 Beijing Motor Show, such as the Ioniq Venus sedan and the Ioniq SUV. Earth . These two concepts reveal a new stylistic language adapted to the Chinese market.
These two models will be offered both in a BEV version and in a REEV version with a range extender.
