Ford announces the launch of 8 new models in the Indian market by 2015
- Since 2010, Ford sales in India fluctuate between 6,000 and 7,000 units per month, on average. The Ford Figo (an old generation of
Ford Fiesta in Europe launched in 2002), accounts for most of the sales.
The Figo’s sales represents nearly 82% of the Indian local production plant in Chennai.
- In a growing market, the objective of Ford is to support the Indian market demand by expanding its product range but also by getting the manufacturer out of its ultra dependency on Figo.
- This is the reason why Ford announced a plan to launch eight new models by 2015.
- This plan targets the compact car segment and will begin in 2013 with the commercialisation of the EcoSport, a B-segment SUV.
