Volkswagen group sold 9,07 millions vehicles in 2012
- The Volkswagen Group sold 9.07 million vehicles worldwide in 2012 (+11.2%) compared to 2011 (i.e 862,000 vehicles added). Volkswagen comes now in third position behind Toyota and GM regarding the quantities sold in 2012.
- The group increased its sales (580,000 units) by 34% (compared to 2011) in the United States, 8.2% in South America and 25% in China (2.81 million units). In North America, Volkswagen sold 840,000 vehicles last year, up by 26%.
- Its sales have remained stable over the European market (- 0.3%; 3.67 million units), but fell by 6.5% in Western Europe excluding Germany to 1.85 million units.
- With the exception of Seat (- 8.3% to 321,000 units), all brands of the Volkswagen Group increased their sales last year. The Volkswagen brand increased its sales by 12.7% to 5.74 million units. The Volkswagen brand sold 2.20 million units in the Chinese market, up by 25%. Audi has sold 1.46 million vehicles (+11.7%). Skoda sold 939,000 vehicles (+6.8%). The Utilituy vehicle branch of VW sold 550,000 vehicles (+4.1%). Porsche has sold 141,000 vehicles (+18.7% - note: results of this carmaker are consolidated into into the Group's results since August 2012. Bentley has sold 8510 vehicles.
