PSA group unveils its new modular platform
 
PSA Peugeot Citroën has unveiled in its Velizy  technical center its new modular platform labeled EMP2 (Efficient Modular Platform 2). The information here below relating to this platform is sourced from the carmaker itself (press release) and not from Inovev studies or other sources.
 
This new modular platform has been designed to equip future vehicles group in both  C- and D-segment.  Its use will start in the second half of 2013 on the new Citroën C4 Picasso to be produced ​​on the site of Vigo in Spain and the future Peugeot 308 to be produced in Sochaux. It will then be used in Wuhan plant (China) in 2014.
 
Future Citroën C4 and Peugeot 308  will use the same platforms as future Citroën C5 and Peugeot 508.
The new EMP2 platform will replace the current platforms PF2  and PF3.
 
Available in various widths and lengths, the new EMP2 platform can be used on all types of silhouettes (sedans, convertibles, minivans, SUV) and be fitted with many engines including the diesel hybrid.
 
€ 630 million has been invested in this platform and 116 patents have been filed.
 
70kg of weight saving  versus the previous generation, obtained through an optimized use of materials, is announced.
