Ford starts production of the electric Ford Focus in Germany

Ford has launched the production of the electric Focus in Germany at its plant in Saarlouis, where are made all the Focus sold in Europe.

The new electric Ford Focus is the first 100% electric model of the Ford brand to be produced in Europe. It will be sold on the European market as of August 2013. Ford produces an electric version of the Focus in North America since the fourth quarter of 2011. This model has sold 900 units on the market in the first half of 2013, twice as many sales as in the first half of 2012.

Ford has not communicated the sale targets of the electric Focus for Europe, but given its characteristics (power of 145 hp, maximum speed of 135 km / h range of 160 km), the model could find a few thousand buyers in Europe. It all depends on the price positioning relative to the Nissan Leaf. The latter has found 2000 customers in the first half of 2013, 4000 sales throughout the year.

The electric Focus introduces the European range of electrical vehicles by Ford, the range will grow in 2014 with the C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrid to drive, and with the all-new Mondeo Hybrid (petrol-electric).
