Saab may well reboot its production

The National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS)company, which bought Saab in 2012 following its bankruptcy in 2011, said that the car brand could gradually resume production from autumn 2013.

The 9.3 sedan could once again be assembled on the Trollhättan site (probably in an electric version).

Initially, the Saab 9.3 should be marketed in Europe and China (since the NEVS company is linked to a Chinese company called Beijing National Battery Technology), but other markets will be added gradually.

Models based on the Phoenix platform (developed before the bankruptcy of Saab in 2011) could then be produced at the site of Trollhättan.

This platform will enable the production of models with sizes greater than those of the 9.3, as a future 9.5 (The 9.5 stopped in 2011 on a GM platform seems to of been abandoned) or an SUV.

Let us recall that the Chinese brand "Beijing" is already using the platform of the old Saab 9.3 for its own account, as SAIC uses the old Rover for its own account.

In terms of bodywork, the Beijing C60 models are very close to the last 9.3 models produced by Saab.
