Inovev expects 100 000 annual sales of the new Hyundai Tucson in Europe

The Korean manufacturer Hyundai-Kia unveiled at the Geneva Show in March 2015, the replacement of the C segment SUV previously known as the iX35 that will now re-uses its original name: Tucson. The Tucson will like its predecessor, be produced in South Korea (Ulsan), Europe (Nošovice in the Czech Republic) and China. Its dimensions have been adjusted, and it is now bigger (4,48m length against 4,41m for the former iX35 and 1.85m wide against 1.82m previously) only its height has been scaled down (1.65m against 1.67 m), which is a general trend among all manufacturers in recent years.

The new model adopts certain characteristics of the large Hyundai SUV, the Santa Fe like the grille and the sharp contour lines. The new Tucson is expected to reach 100 000 sales in Europe alone where demand for compact SUVs continues to grow. It will compete with the Nissan Qashqai, Renault Kadjar, VW Tiguan, Ford Kuga and Kia Sportage .

Five engines will be available on the Tucson, two petrol engines, one 1.6 GDI 135 hp Newcomen atmospheric engine and one 1.6turbo T-GDI of 176 hp and three diesel, one 1.7 CRDi 115 hp, a 2.0 CRDi 136 hp and a 2,0 CRDi 184 hp. The Tucson isn't available with a 2.2 CRDi 197 hp that has been restricted to the Santa Fe (the Hyundai SUV from segment D).

The previous iX35 having had a five year life cycle (2010-2015), it is likely that the new Tucson will also have a five years lifecycle (2015-2020) before being replaced.
