Inovev expects 350 000 annual sales of the new VW Passat in Europe

The Volkswagen Passat was voted Car of the Year 2015. It therefore succeeds to the Peugeot 308, which was elected Car of the Year in 2014. It is ahead of the seven finalists selected by a panel of 58 European journalists from the specialized press: the Citroën C4 Cactus a small SUV, the Renault Twingo city car, the compact MPV BMW 2 Series Active Tourer, the Mercedes C-Class, The Ford Mondeo and Nissan Qashqai.

In terms of sales volumes, the VW Passat is probably the best ranked of the batch of seven finalists, since it aspires to a production volume of around 350 000 units per year (sedan and estate) in Europe alone, to which must be added 250 000 units in China and 150 000 units in the United States.

This car is therefore one of the most distributed segment D vehicles, and its success has been undeniable over the last forty years, since the launch date of the first generation Passat(which was based on the Audi 80).

This success is all the more important since D segment sedans have seen their influence considerably decrease with the introduction of minivans and SUVs. The Passat has become over the years the last European sedan from segment D to still experience success.
