Assessment of French sales (PC+UV) for the first six months of 2015
- In the first half of 2015, the car market (PC + UV) in France rose by 5.5% to almost 1.2 million units compared to the same period last year. Sales of passenger cars rose by 6.1% (to just over 1 million units) and those of commercial vehicles by 2.2% (175 000 units).
- All market segments increased, with a strong increase in segment A (+ 17.9% to 82 000 units) and segment D (16% to 81 400 units), like in Germany. Following the same trend, it is the SUV market that has grown the most (+ 22.4% to 258 000 units) while the MPV market was down by 7.7% (125 000 units). SUVs are reinforcing themselves as the second category of bodywork sold in France and Europe.
- By brand, Renault consolidated its leading position in the French market with an increase of 6.4% of sales (269 000 units), ahead of Peugeot (+ 6.5% reaching 206 000 units). Citroën it is down 2.7% (to 136 000 units). Significant increases were to be credited to Hyundai (+ 54.2% reaching 12 000 units) and Mini (+ 48.5% reaching 11 300 units). The progress of Fiat (+ 12.5% reaching 46 600 units) that benefit from the novelty effect of the 500X SUV must also be acknowledged.
- By model, despite a slight decline in sales, the Renault Clio remains the market leader (-3.5% reaching 76 000 units), ahead of the Peugeot 208 (+ 0.9% reaching 54 000 units). The 308 took full advantage of its ramp-up, with an increase of 42.5% of sales (43 500 units). The SUVs Dacia Duster (-13.7% reaching 20 000 units) and 3008 (-13.6% reaching 18 000 units) both declined pending for their renewal, while the Citroën C4 Cactus just crossed the 10 000 sales threshold.
