Assessment of production in Italy (PC+LUV) for the first 6 months of 2015
- In the first half of 2015 production (PC + LUV) in Italy reached 441 000 units against 337 000 units the previous year, an increase of 30.8% or 104 000 additional units. The production of passenger cars (PC) increased by 41.1% to 286 000 units and that of light utility vehicles (LUV) increased by 15.3% to 155 000 units.
- By group, the share of FCA continues to dominate in Italy, with a share of 84% of local production (against 82% in 2014). The leading group managed to increase its share in the Italian productiondespite the permanent production shutdown of Lancia models in the country. FCA has indeed started manufacturing the Jeep Renegade and Fiat 500X on its Melfi site, and these vehicles have been successful not only in Europe but also in North America where the Jeep brand is very present.
- The sharp increase in production of Maserati (after expanding its range with the Ghibli) also benefited the restart of the production in Italy of FCA (FCA owns Maserati since 1993). But it is still far away from production figures achieved by Italy in the early 2000s, the relocation of the popular Fiat 500 and LanciaYpsilon Fiat 500L in Poland and Serbia have reduced the influence of the car industry in Italy.
- By model, the Fiat Panda remains the most produced car in Italy (+ 12.2% to 102 000 units), followed by the Fiat Ducato utility vehicle (+ 22.5% to 64 000 units), the Fiat Punto (-5 , 3% to 50 000 units) whose influence has reduced year on year and the new Jeep Renegade (49 000 units) whose production started in the second half of 2014.
