What carmakers produce the most SUVs?

 

Regarding the approximately 19 million SUV manufactured worldwide in 2015 - representing 21% of global automotive production - what are the leading manufacturers?

The Renault-Nissan group is the manufacturer that currently produces the most SUVs (2.4 million in 2015), ahead of General-Motors (2.0 million), Hyundai-Kia (1.8 million), Toyota (1.8 million), Fiat-Chrysler (1.7 million), Ford (1.5 million), Honda (1.4 million), Volkswagen (1.3 million), Great Wall (0.7 million) and BMW (0, 6 million).
These ten manufacturers account for 80% of global SUV production.

By brand, Nissan is the leader in this category of vehicles (1.5 million in 2015), ahead of Toyota (1.4 million), Ford (1.4 million), Jeep (1.3 million), Honda (1.3 million), Hyundai (1.1 million), Chevrolet (1.0 million), Haval (0.7 million), Kia (0.7 million) and Volkswagen (0.6 million). These ten brands account for 58% of global SUV production.

The most produced model is the Nissan Rogue / X-Trail with 705,000 units produced in 2015, ahead of the Toyota RAV4 (662,000), Honda CRV (660,000), Volkswagen Tiguan (530 000), Kia Sportage ( 400 000), Toyota Land Cruiser (390000), Hyundai Santa Fe (387 000), Ford Escape (384,000), Haval H6 (373,000) and Nissan Qashqai (362,000).
These ten models represent 25% of the world of SUV production.
