Chrysler begins marketing the new Pacifica MPV
- Chrysler (a subsidiary of FCA Group) has just started marketing the new Pacifica MPV to replace the old MPV Town & Country whose origins date back to 1988. This new 7-seaterMPV was launched while the US market for MPVs is in sharp fall since 2005, at a time when the SUV market started a strong growth. From 1.2 million sales in 2005, the US MPV market fell down to 600,000 sales in 2015, which represents a decrease of 50% over this period!
- Despite this fact, Chrysler still believes in the potential of this market, firstly because he is still leader in this category of vehicles in 2015 (with 45% market share), followed by Toyota and Honda, and secondly because this market is beginning to stabilize since 2012, at - albeit very low - 600,000 annual sales.
- Chrysler expects to sell annually 150,000 Pacifica. Its production started in February 2016 on the Windsor Canadian site that used to produce the Town & Country. It is equipped with a 3.6-liter V6 petrol engine developing 287hp.
Its dimensions are very close to the old Town & Country (L: 5,17m W: 2,02m h: 1.77m).

- It is not yet known whether the Dodge Caravan will also be replaced by a model derived from the Pacifica or Dodge will abandon this vehicle category, as did Ford and Chevrolet several years ago .
