Export analysis of the Thai automotive industry
- Thailand is an important production and export base, mainly for Japanese automakers.
About 1.2 million vehicles were exported from Thailand in 2015, 1 million into them being from Japanese origin. Both brands Toyota (377,000 units) and Mitsubishi (290 000 units) account by themselves for more than half of these exports.

- Pick-ups represent a large share of vehicles produced and exported: into about 2 million vehicles manufactured in Thailand each year, 1 million are pickups, from which 70% are exported.
- Into the 1.2 million vehicles exported in 2015, 700 000 are pickups and 500,000 sedans and minivans.
- Thailand exported in 2015 in the following main regions: Asia 298,000 units, Oceania (mainly Australia and New Zealand) 295 000 units, the Middle East 230,000 units, Europe 145,000 units, South America 130,000 units, North America 67,000 units and Africa 40,000 units.
- The ten top models exported from Thailand in 2015 were as follows: Toyota Pickup Hilux (285 000 units), Mitsubishi Space Star (121 000 units), Mitsubishi pickup L200 (119 000 units), Toyota Yaris (85 000 units), Isuzu pickup D-Max (72 000 units), Ford pickup Ranger (69 000 units), Mazda 2 (55 000 units), Nissan pickup Navara (40 000 units), Suzuki Celerio ( 36,000 units) and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport (32 000 units).
