Production achievements (PC+UV): Europe 10 months 2016 and forecast 2017
- Nearly 80% of car production in Europe (European Union 29 countries + Turkey + Serbia) is sold in Europe each year.
The level of the European market (registrations) has therefore a very great impact on the volume of production achieved in Europe.
The level of the European market (registrations) has therefore a very great impact on the volume of production achieved in Europe.
- The European market grew significantly in 2015 (+ 9,4%) and in 2016 (+ 7.2%). For 2017, Inovev expects a lower growth (+3,5%) of the European market (see analyses by country).
- Taking this parameter into account and in line with the good performance of exports, European car production is expected to increase by 3% in 2017, while it increased by 4.5% in 2016 and by 7.9% in 2015.
- Thanks to the growth of the European market and exports, European production reached nearly 20 million units by 2016, though not reaching the 2007 peak (19.8 millions against 20.2 millions respectively).
- Not all European countries will move in the same way in 2017, as Germany will remain stable, while Spain, Italy, France and even Great Britain are expected to see a slight increase in output.
- Automobile production continues to move from west to east Europe (this region accounts for 25% of European production in 2016, compared with 24% in 2014 and only 15% in 2005).
