Ford Group Global Market Situation in 2016
- The Ford Group (Ford, Lincoln) has released its sales figures for the year 2016.Worldwide sales amounted to 6.7 million vehicles, an increase of 0.9% (or 60,000 units) compared with 2015. This slight increase (compared to global growth of more than 4.5%) is explained by the aging of the manufacturer's product line: Focus (733,000 units) lost 11.1% of its sales, Fusion / Mondeo 11.4% (480,000 units) and the Fiesta 16.6% (450,000 units). Fortunately, the Ford F-Series (the highest selling vehicle in the world) saw its sales increase by 7.7% (990,000 units).
- Global sales in 2016 by the Ford group (the sixth largest in the world) break down as follows:
1. The United States is its first market, with 2.6 million vehicles (-0.1%), for 39% of its worldwide sales.
2. Europe is its second largest market, with 1.32 million vehicles (+ 3.1%), for 20% of its worldwide sales.
3. China is its third largest market, with 950,000 vehicles (+ 9.2%), for 14% of its worldwide sales.
4. South America is its fourth largest market, with 310,000 vehicles (-18.7%), for 5% of its worldwide sales.
- These four markets account for 78% of the Ford Group's global sales in 2016, with 6.57 million Ford vehicles and 0.13 million Lincoln vehicles. The best-selling models of the group in 2016 are Ford F-Series (990,000 units), Ford Focus (733,000 units) and Ford Kuga / Escape (620,000 units).
