Turkey Automotive Market (PC+LCV) in 2016
- The Turkish car market (PC + LCV) remained at the same level in 2016 as in 2015. Sales in Turkey were slightly lower than one million units (984,000 units in 2016 vs 968,000 units in 2015). According to Inovev, the Turkish market should fall by nearly 5% in 2017 to 940 000 units.
- Many manufacturers saw their sales increase in this market between 2015 and 2016, with notable exceptions for Ford, FCA, PSA and BMW. Volkswagen Group remains in the lead (207,000 units + 3.8%), despite the fact that it does not manufacture any vehicles in Turkey, unlike the following four manufacturers: Renault-Nissan (201,000 units , + 6.8%) Ford (110 000 units , -7.6%), FCA (109,000 units -4.3%) and Hyundai-Kia (71,000 units + 0.7%). These five manufacturers account for 70% of the Turkish market (21% for Volkswagen, 20% for Renault-Nissan, 11% for Ford, 11% for FCA and 7% for Hyundai-Kia).
- The top ten models on the Turkish market in 2016 were Fiat Tipo (38,000 units), Toyota Corolla (33,000), Opel Astra (32,000), Renault Clio (31,000), Ford Transit Courier(30, 000) , VW Passat (29,000), VW Polo (28,000), Ford Transit (27,000), Fiat Doblo (26,000) and Renault Symbol (25,000). Tipo, Clio, Transit Courier, Transit, Doblo and Symbol are manufactured in Turkey. Imports account for more than 68% of the Turkish market.
