Alfa-Romeo will not renew Mito et Giulietta
Although the management of FCA announced in 2014 that, thanks to the renewal and the extension of the range of the brand, it would  sell 400,000 Alfa Romeos per year  as of  2018,, in recent months  the ambitions of the manufacturer have been revised significantly downwards. The new Giulia sedan has difficulty in  the D segment  premium category (only 10,000 sales in 2016) and its sales in the US market could be compromised by the Trump administration's intention to tax imported vehicles . The break version of the Giulia will finally not be launched. In addition, the Mito (segment B) and Giulietta (segment C), which account for the bulk of sales, will not be replaced.

The future of the brand is based on the recently launched Stelvio SUV (Giulia platform) and a hypothetical launch in 2019 of E-segment models, the Alfetta sedan and the Alfetta-based SUV. These high-end models will be launched only  if  Giulia  sales  meet the manufacturer’s  expectations , which does not seem to be the case today.

With the planned cancellation of the Mito and Giulietta, it seems that the launch of a  C segment SUV is compromised. Finally, the launch of a sports coupe derived from the Giulia is  also  in question. In conclusion, Alfa-Romeo will certainly not sell 400,000 cars in 2018 or even in  the following years. Inovev expects 130,000 sales in 2018 and not much more in subsequent years. Ultimately, Alfa ,like Lancia , seems doomed.
