- The most produced segment B SUV in the world in 2016 is the Chevrolet Trax (334,000 units). This model launched in 2012 is currently produced in three different countries: South Korea (186,000 units) for Asian markets outside China, Mexico (110,000 units) for markets in North and South America, and finally China (38,000 units) for the Chinese market. The Chevrolet Trax is no longer distributed in Europe since GM cancelled the Chevrolet brand on the continent.
- The success of this model is all the more spectacular as its Opel badged variant (Mokka) makes for 175,000 additional units (half made in Korea and the other half in Europe).
- In total, Chevrolet Trax and Opel Mokka thus accounted for nearly 510,000 units in 2016, compared with an overall B segment SUV market close to 3 million units last year. Both models should be replaced in 2019.
- In Europe (29 countries), the most produced segment B SUV in 2016 is the Renault Captur (225,000 units) ahead of the Peugeot 2008 (203,000 units) and the Jeep Renegade (184,000 units).
- The Captur and 2008 are sold mainly in Europe, while the Renegade is exported largely to North America (60% of its production). It is surprising that the Volkswagen group has not yet invested this market, but they plan to do so in 2017 and 2018, with VW, Seat and Skoda brand launches in this segment.
