FCA stops production of Fiat models in China and India
The Fiat brand has not been successful on the world's largest car market (China), nor on the fourth (India). As a result, the FCA Group has decided to stop the production of Fiat models in these two countries and focus its efforts on developing the production of Jeep models, a brand that benefits from the global enthusiasm for SUVs.

Production of Fiat models (Viaggio, Ottimo) reached a peak of 70,000 units in China in 2014, all sold locally, then sales collapsed as of 2015.

In India, production of Fiat models (Punto, Linea) reached a peak of 25,000 units in 2009, all sold locally, then sales declined constantly from 2011.

The production of Jeep models under FCA control (Renegade, Compass, Cherokee) started in China in 2015 and India in 2017, and the level achieved in China in 2017 is very satisfactory, since it already exceeds 200,000 units, or a figure equivalent to that of Peugeot, but reached in just two years.

In India, it is still too early to judge the performance of the Jeep brand. Nevertheless, the discontinuation of production of Fiat models in China and India, in addition to the recent Fiat production stop in North America, shows the growing disinterest for the Fiat brand from customers and FCA Group management.
