Inovev expects 100,000 units production of per year for the new Kia Ceed
Kia (a subsidiary of the Korean group Hyundai-Kia) introduced the third generation of its Ceed C segment sedan, which is exclusively sold and produced in Europe. This new generation, which is 4.31m long, 1.80m wide and 1.45m high, is based on the recent K2 platform shared with the recent Hyundai i30, also sold and produced in Europe.

This new Kia sedan competes with the C-segment sedans of mass production brands such as VW Golf, Renault Megane, Peugeot 308, Citroën C4, Ford Focus, Opel Astra, Fiat Tipo, Seat Leon ... and Hyundai i30.

The new Kia Ceed will be, as previously, produced in Zilina (Slovakia) while its cousin the Hyundai i30 remains produced in Nosovice (Czech Republic). Since 2008, Kia Ceed's production has steadily declined, except at the time of the launch of the second generation, from 200,000 units per year to 100,000 units in eight years. Inovev expects a production of 100,000 units per year in Slovakia of the third generation, given a European market that is expected to slow down in the coming years and which favors sales of SUVs. Moreover, Kia plans to launch a compact SUV on the basis of the Ceed in late 2019, in the style of the Mercedes GLA, and it is not sure that this new compact SUV will take the Ceed name.

The engines of the new Kia Ceed are: 1400 gasoline (100hp), 1000 gasoline T-GDI (120hp), 1400 gasoline T-GDI (140hp) and 1600 diesel IDRC (115hp and 136hp).
