The most produced car in Italy in 2017
- We have seen in our previous analyzes that the VW Golf was the most produced car in Germany (and Europe) and that the Toyota Yaris was the most produced car in France. What is the most produced car in Italy?
- This is the Fiat Panda (A segment sedan), as for many years. The Pomigliano plant in the Naples region (southern Italy) is the only site producing this model in the European Union.
- 197,000 Fiat Panda were produced in Europe in 2017 (against 200,000 in 2016), of which 146,000 were sold in Italy (74% of its production) where it remains the best-selling car. The Panda, which is also the best-selling segment A model in Europe, is expected to be replaced in 2019.
- The future Panda could be produced on the Tichy site (Poland) for cost reasons. This transfer is made possible by the fact that the Ford Ka is no longer produced there and, the Lancia brand being doomed, LanciaYpsilon should not be produced there after 2019. In addition, the production launch of the future Fiat Punto in Tichy has been abandoned, since the Fiat-Chrysler Group has decided not to continue this model, which will end its career in Italy.
- The transfer of the Fiat Panda to Tichy could nevertheless cause the closure of the Pomigliano site. A new model could however be produced there as of 2019 (the future Dodge Journey?).
