Global Automotive Production in 2018
- Global automobile production (PC+LCV) fell by 1.3% in 2018 compared to 2017, mainly due to the decline in the world's largest market, China (-2.8%), which now accounts for 30% of global registrations.
- Global automobile production (LCV+LV) therefore fell to 94,340,947 units in 2018, compared with 95,583,533 units in 2017.
- By region, we note:
• Asia produced 51,991,785 vehicles in 2018 (55% of world production), down 2% from 2017.
• Europe (including Turkey) produced 19,180,034 vehicles in 2018 (20% of world production), down 2.7% from 2017.
• North America produced 16,979,676 vehicles in 2018 (18% of world production), down 2% from 2017.
• South America produced 3,227,772 vehicles in 2018 (4% of world production), up 1% from 2017.
• The BRUS Region (Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine, Serbia) produced 1,851,876 vehicles in 2018 (2% of world production), up 12.7% compared to 2017.
• Africa produced 1,109,804 vehicles in 2018 (1% of world production), up 21.5% from 2017.
• Oceania stopped producing vehicles in 2018,i.e. Australia ,as New Zealand had ceased production in the 1990s.
