Aston-Martin unveiled its first SUV
- The British luxury firm Aston-Martin has unveiled its first SUV, named DBX. Until now, the firm of Gaydon only offered coupes and cabriolets, and a sedan, but never a SUV. It has therefore followed the strategy of its competitors such as Porsche, Maserati or Lamborghini, offering a luxury SUV, as this body sales continue to increase worldwide and represent 40% of the global market in 2019.
- Aston-Martin has built a plant, especially for this new model, with a production capacity of 10,000 vehicles a year in Saint Athan, Wales (United Kingdom). Aston-Martin plans to sell 10,000 units of the DBX each year, which will be added to the 4,000 coupes and cabriolets produced annually in Gaydon.
- The new Aston-Martin SUV (which is the first 5-seat model of the brand) will be marketed in Europe, North America and China, but all models will come out of the Saint Athan assembly lines.
- Its competitors are the Porsche Cayenne, Maserati Levante, Lamborghini Urus, and to some extent the Bentley Bentayga.
- 5.04 m length, 2.00 m wide and 1.68m high, the DBX is equipped with a gasoline twin turbo V8 4-liter engine of 550ch developed by Mercedes AMG. The weight of DBX is 2,245 kg.
