The Peugeot 3008 remained the most produced car in France in 2019
- The Peugeot 3008 remained the most produced car in France in 2019, for the second consecutive year. Over the past 12 months, 245,932 units of this C segment SUV have been produced at the Sochaux plant, which represents a 4.8% drop in volume compared to 2018.
- The 3008 remains on a high trend, however, but is approaching its mid-life restyling which is planned for 2020, the model having to be replaced in 2023. In addition, it has been directly challenged by the new Citroën C5 Aircross which is located on the same market and which is sold at a similar price. The C5 Aircross, which shares platform and engines with the 3008, sold more than 80,000 units for its first year of commercialization.
- Peugeot's C segment SUV is ahead of the Toyota Yaris (224,000 units produced in 2019), which suffered a 10% drop in production last year. This result are not the consequence of lower sales in Europe (the sales are stable in 2019) but are due to the decision of Toyota to stop the exportation to the United States. The Toyota Yaris marketed in North America is now produced in Mexico, and based on the Mazda 2.
- For 2020, the situation is uncertain because the Peugeot 3008 will benefit from a mid-life restyling, while the Toyota Yaris will start a new career with a completely redesigned body. The Peugeot 2008 (segment B SUV) on the other hand will no longer appear on this graph since this model is transferred to Spain.
