Porsche Taycan sales now significantly surpass Panamera sales
The Porsche brand (a subsidiary of the Volkswagen group) launched its first four-door sedan (F segment) in 2009, the Panamera.
This 4.97 m long, 1.93 m wide and 1.42 m high model has succeed to find its market,
as it has sold 280,000 units in total since 2009, or more than 25 000 per year. The Panamera competes with the Mercedes S-Class and AMG GT 4-door, the BMW 7 Series and Audi A8. Today it only has 3.0-liter, 3.6-liter and 4.0-liter petrol engines.

In 2019, the carmaker therefore took the bet of revolutionizing the segment by launching a new four-door sedan, this time equipped with a 100% electric engine.

This model of the same dimensions as the Panamera (length: 4.96 m, width: 1.96 m, height: 1.38 m) is sold at practically the same price, since the Panamera is priced between 95,000 and 195,000 euros and the Taycan between 110,000 and 190,000 euros.

When we compare the sales evolution of the two models, we observe that the Panamera started to decline as soon as the Taycan was announced, and the gap between the two models has continued to grow. since then. In July 2020, 500 Panamera were sold for 1,400 Taycan. In November 2020, 300 Panamera were sold for nearly 2,000 Taycan. At the end of 2020, 10,000 Panamera and 30,000 Taycan will be sold worldwide.

So there is a real possibility that there will not be a third generation of the Panamera and that the Taycan will eventually replace this model completely in the Porsche range.
