Tesla sold nearly a million cars worldwide in 2021
The Californian manufacturer Tesla, which specializes in the production of electric cars, sold 936,172 vehicles worldwide in 2021, which represents an increase of 87.4% compared to 2020. Indeed, Tesla's sales in 2020 had not exceeded 499,550 units, which already represented an increase of 36.9% compared to 2019, while the year 2020 had been seriously affected by the coronavirus crisis, and the global automotive market had fallen by more than 15% that year.

Tesla benefited from the growing global demand for electric vehicles, a suitable range of electric cars (2 sedans and 2 different segment SUVs) and the start-up of its factory in China, a country where the demand for electric cars is very high, strong and which today represents more than half of the brand's production.

Tesla also has a head start on its competitors in that its range of electric cars has developed earlier (since 2012). It should also be added that the rental company Hertz has ordered 100,000 Tesla, which will be delivered in 2022 and 2023, which will further increase the brand's production volume.

Sales in 2021 focused on the Model 3 and Y which accounted for 911,208 sales, with the more expensive Model S and X accounting for just 24,964 sales. The upcoming arrival of the Model 2 should boost Tesla's business, especially since the brand will soon have a third factory, located this time in Germany.
