2023 Munich Motor Show - Inovev forecasts 5,000 units a year of the new Mercedes AMG GT coupe
Mercedes is presenting at the 2023 Munich Motor Show the replacement for its AMG GT coupe marketed from 2014 to 2021This new high-performance coupe will support the recent Mercedes SL (2021) available only in a roadster version from which it takes up the platform and engines.

It is therefore in a way the coupé version of the Mercedes SL (although the bodies are different) since the SL will never be marketed in a coupé version and the AMG GT will never be marketed in a roadster version (unlike the old AMG GT).

The management of Mercedes felt that the roadster version of the old AMG GT had killed the commercial career of the old Mercedes SL and that the same mistake should not be made twice.

For its part, the AMG GT sedan continues its commercial career, but it is obvious that with the development of battery electric engines and increasingly severe penalties on high-displacement sports cars, it will not be easy to sell these cars (AMG GT coupé, SL roadster, AMGT GT sedan) in the next few years, except perhaps in the United States and in the Middle East countries…

The AMG GT coupé competes with the Porsche 911, BMW M8, Aston-Martin Vantage and Chevrolet Corvette. Inovev is counting on a production of 5,000 units per year of the new AMG GT coupe.
