The VW Tiguan is the most produced car in Germany in 2025
Based on production figures calculated for the first 11 months of 2025, Inovev estimated the production volume of each model worldwide for the entire year. Here is the Top 20 by model (passenger cars + light utility vehicles) for Germany, which produced a total of 4.15 million vehicles last year, a slight increase (+2%) compared to 2024.

According to Inovev, the Volkswagen Tiguan (C-segment SUV) is the most produced model in Germany in 2025, with more than 250,000 units produced, ahead of the Volkswagen Golf (C-segment hatchback) which thus loses its long-held leadership position.

While the Tiguan is gaining ground, the Golf is losing ground, which could mean that some Golf customers have switched to the Tiguan. Behind these two Volkswagen stars, we find two premium SUVs: the BMW X1 (C-segment SUV) and the Mercedes GLC (D-segment SUV). Next come two premium sedans: the Audi A3 (C-segment sedan) and the Audi A5 (D-segment sedan), which replaces both the previous-generation Audi A4 and A5, explaining this model's strong position in 2025.

In seventh place is the Tesla Model Y (D-segment SUV), which saw a 32% drop in sales in 2025 compared to 2024, and lost four places compared to the previous year. Next come eight premium models, including four BMWs (1 Series, 5 Series, 3 Series, X2), three Mercedes (E-Class, Sprinter, GLA), and one Porsche (Macan). It's worth noting that the BMW 3 Series (D-segment sedan), a former star of the Top 10, has lost considerable influence, as has the Mercedes C-Class, which doesn't even appear in the Top 20. Further down the list, the Ford Focus, nearing the end of its production run, is only sixteenth, but it's ahead of the Audi Q2 and the top three electric cars in the Top 20: the Audi Q6, VW ID.3, and VW ID.7. The ID.7 has overtaken the ID.4, which has dropped out of the Top 20.
