Inovev forecasts 400,000 annual sales of the new generation BMW 3 Series
- BMW has unveiled the seventh generation of the Series 3 at the Paris Motorshow. The new model retains the style of the current generation so as not to confuse the customer. Indeed, the 3 Series remains the best-selling vehicle of the brand, and 15 million have been sold since the first generation in 1975.
- The seventh generation is based on the CLAR platform, used on the BMW 5 Series, 6 Series and 7 Series. The use of this platform allows a weight reduction of 55kg on the total weight, despite increasing dimensions: 4.71m long ( + 8cm), 1.83m wide (+ 1cm) and 1.44m high (+ 1cm).
- The BMW 3 Series is still rivaled by Audi A4, Mercedes C-Class, Jaguar XE and Volvo S60 / V60. It will be available in Touring Wagon next year and the coupe and cabriolet versions will return to the Series 4 designation as today.
- The model will still be manufactured on the historical site of Munich (Germany).
- The engines of the new Series 3 are: 3-cylinder petrol engines 1.5 l (136hp), 4 cylinders 2.0 l (184hp) and 6 cylinders 3.0 l (326hp), diesel engines 4 cylinders 2.0l (150hp) and 6 cylinders 3.0l (258hp). A plug-in hybrid version will be available from next year. According to Inovev, 250,000 BMW 3 Series will be produced yearly in Europe and 150,000 in China. Production in North America is under consideration by the manufacturer.
