The Hyundai-Kia group became the third largest carmaker in the world in 2022
The Korean group Hyundai-Kia has shown real dynamism in recent years by multiplying the launches of new products, some of which are equipped with battery electric technologies. The carmaker has truly launched the electrification of its range, contrasting with the Japanese carmakers who have long hesitated to enter this market.

The dynamism and audacity seem to have paid off, as the Hyundai-Kia group continued to progress in 2022 (by 2.7%), to 6.85 million vehicles, while the Toyota group remained stable (10.5 million vehicles, -0.1%), and Volkswagen (8.3 million vehicles, -7%) and  Renault-Nissan groups (6.15 million vehicles, -22%) saw their sales fall. As a result, the Hyundai-Kia group passed the Renault-Nissan group last year and became the third largest carmaker in the world for the first time. By brand, Hyundai increased its sales by 1.4% (3.95 million units) and Kia by 4.6% (2.9 million units).

The global sales in 2022 of the Hyundai-Kia group break down as follows:
§ The United States remains its largest market, with 1.47 million vehicles, or 21% of its global sales.
§ Korea is its second market, with 1.23 million vehicles, or 18% of its global sales.
§ Europe is its third largest market, with 1.06 million vehicles, or 15% of its global sales.
§ India is its fourth market, with 800,000 vehicles, or 12% of its global sales.
§ China is its fifth largest market, with 380,000 vehicles, or 6% of its global sales.

The Hyundai-Kia Group sold 355,000 BEVs, 120,000 PHEVs and 375,000 HEVs in 2022.
