2023 Munich Motor Show - Facelifted Opel Corsa
The former European subsidiaries of the American group GM (Opel and Vauxhall) still in operation after the latter's bankruptcy in 2009 were bought by the French group PSA (Peugeot-Citroën) in 2017.

But the sharing of platforms between Opel-Vauxhall and Peugeot-Citroën had already been implemented previously since the Opel-Vauxhall Crossland derived from the Citroën C3 Aircross and the Opel-Vauxhall Grandland derived from the Peugeot 3008 had been launched a few weeks before this purchase, their study having begun a few years earlier.

From 2017, the PSA group decided to renew the Opel-Vauxhall Corsa in the same way (which would take over the platform and engines of the Peugeot 208) and the Opel-Vauxhall Astra (which would take over the platform and engines of the Peugeot 308). renewal of light utility vehicles (Combo, VivaroMovano) was implemented in parallel.

It was in 2019 that the new Opel-Vauxhall Corsa derived from the Peugeot 208 was launched. At the 2023 Munich Motor Show, its mid-life restyled version appeared, the model to be replaced in 2026 by a new battery electric Corsa(currently, the Corsa is available in a thermal version and in a battery electric version).

Opel-Vauxhall has announced that it will only offer 100% cars in its range from 2028 (all models combined), seven years ahead of the timetable set by the European Commission. It remains to be seen whether this objective will be maintained given that several European countries are not ready for a battery electric new car market in 2035.
