Inovev predicts sales of 30 000 to 50 000 per year for the new BMW 6 Series GT
BMW has just stopped producing the Coupe 6 Series, having already suspended the Gran Coupé and Cabriolet variants . They are still produced but in small quantities and their production should cease before the end of the year. On the cumulative first 5 months of 2017, only 4 500 units were assembled in Dingolfing (Germany), against 16 000 units in 2016 and 18 000 in 2015.

The 6 Series Coupé, Cabriolet and Gran Coupé will in fact be replaced by the future Series 8 announced for 2018 which will be available in all three bodies and still produced in Dingolfing.

But BMW did not want to leave a gap in its range, and this month unveiled a new generation of Series 6 that is actually the replacement of the 5 Series GT, a five-door sedan derived from the four door 5 Series. This new model is called 6 Series GT. It uses the same “recipe” as the 5 Series GT but applied to the 5 Series launched last year.

With its 5.09m long, 1.90m wide and 1.54m high body, it is far from the elegant and low-profile line of the 6 Series Gran Coupé, but the progress is notable compared to the 5 Series GT.

Using the CLAR platform and assembled at Dingolfing, the new 6 Series GT is offered with  258hp 4-cylinder 2.0 turbo gasoline,  340hp 6-cylinder 3.0 turbo gasoline and 265 hp6 cylinder 3.0 turbo diesel Engines.

Inovev expects between 30,000 and 50,000 sales per year of this new 6 GT Series.
