Russia 2017 Top 15 Models Market Review
- Of a total of 1.6 million new passenger cars sold in Russia in 2017 (+ 11.9% compared to 2016), the Hyundai-Kia group has placed three of its models in the top five of this market: Kia Rio (first, with 97,000 units, + 10.3%), Hyundai Solaris (fourth, with 69,000 units, -24.1%) and Hyundai Creta (fifth, with 55,000 units, + 152.2%) . Part of the customer base went directly from Solaris (which lost 22,000 sales) to Creta (which gained 33,000 sales). These three cars are manufactured at the Hyundai-Kia site in Saint Petersburg.
- Lada is doing better in 2017 than in 2016, with two models in the first three places: Granta (second with 94,000 units + 6.8%) and Vesta (third with 77,000 units +40 , 1%). Lada also places two other models in the Top 15: the Largus station wagon (eighth, with 34,000 units, + 14.5%) and the X-Ray SUV (ninth, with 33,000 units, + 67.1%).
- Renault achieves four models in the Top 15: the Duster SUV (seventh, with 44,000 units, -0.4%), the Kaptur SUV (twelfth, with 31,000 units, + 122.4%), the Logan (thirteenth, with 30,500 units, + 3.6%) and the Sandero (fourteenth, with 30,000 units, + 5.8%). The remaining four models in the Top 15 not mentioned above are the VW Polo three-box (sixth, with 49,000 units, + 1.9%), the Toyota RAV4 SUV (tenth, with 33,000 units, + 7.6%), the Chevrolet Niva SUV (eleventh, with 31,000 units, + 4.6%) and the Skoda Rapid (fifteenth, with 29,000 units, + 13.6%).
