Top 12 LCV manufacturers in Europe in 2017
- In a European market for LCVs (light commercial vehicles) which increased by 4% in 2017 compared to 2016, to 2,063 million units, the leading sales by brand remained with Ford (317,000 units, 15.4% market share), ahead of Renault (294,000 units, 14.3% market share), Volkswagen (238,000 units, 11.6% of PDM), Peugeot (220,000 units, 10.7% of PDM), Citroën ( 193,000 units, 9.4% market share , Mercedes (186,000 units, 9% market share ) and Fiat (168,000 units, 8.2% market share. These seven brands account for 78.4% of the European LCV market in 2017 (versus 77.5% in 2016).
- By group, the PSA group is largely leader, with 508,000 sales in 2017 (24.6% market share), ahead of the Renault-Nissan groups (387,000 units, 18.7% market share , Ford (317,000 units, 15.4% market share and Volkswagen (238,000 units, 11.6% market share ). Compared to 2016, the manufacturers have maintained their overall market share, except the PSA group whose share has increased significantly through the acquisition of the Opel brand.
- By model, the Ford Transit Custom remained the best-selling LCV in Europe in 2017, ahead of the Volkswagen Transporter and the Mercedes Sprinter. Next are the Citroën Berlingo, Peugeot Partner, Volkswagen Caddy, Renault Trafic, Renault Master, Ford Transit, Fiat Ducato and Ford Transit Connect. Note that the category of compact LCVs (N1-1) is the most demanded, in front of high-range (N1-3) LCVs, medium-range (N1-2) LCVs and pickups.
