Honda 2020-2023 Product Plan for North America
The 2020-2023 product plan for the Honda brand in the North American market places less emphasis on SUVs than Toyota or Nissan, because the 13 models that Honda plans to launch or restylate during this period, 6 are sedans, 4 are SUVs, 2 are MPVs and 1 is a pickup. Of these 13 models, 9 will be completely renewed and 4 will be restyled.

Compared to Toyota and Nissan, Honda sold 1.45 million cars in the US in 2018, compared to 2.15 million for Toyota and 1.35 million for Nissan. These figures highlight the balance of power between the three Japanese manufacturers.

The year 2020 will be marked by the restyling of the Honda Civic sedans (C segment), Accord (D segment) and the Odyssey minivan. The SUV HRV should be renewed the same year. The year 2021 will be marked by the restyling of the Insight sedan (segment C) and the renewal of Passport and Pilot SUVs. The year 2022 will see the renewal of the Accord Sedan and the CRV SUV, a crucial year, given the importance of these two models on the American market.

Finally in 2023, Civic sedans (C segment) and Insight (C segment) will be renewed (the European Civic should be renewed the same year), at the same time as the Odyssey minivan and Ridgeline pickup.

Honda's premium brand, Acura, includes the renewal of the ILX and TLX sedans in 2020, as well as the SUV MDX. The RDX SUV will be restyled in 2021, then the ILX, TLX and MDX will be restyled in 2023.

Acura sold 150,000 cars in the US in 2018, like Infiniti. It's two times less than Lexus, BMW or Mercedes.
